A little story about counterfeiting money
I once had a reamarkably clever young boy in one of my classes in the ghetto school I used to teach at. His father had a scanner and a colour printer, so he figured he might “earn” a few Euros by photocopying a note or two. While this is technically impossible nowadays (most photocopiers are equipped with an algorithm which can detect banknotes and refuse to copy one) it still worked quite well back then. His victim of choice was the old lady who ran a small general store just across the street from the schoolyard. The old lady probably never thought a thirteen-year-old would do such a thing, so she took the fake notes every time he came to buy stuff at her store and always gave him real money as change. This had been going on for quite some time…until he got too cocky…
After we had planned a day out for the class near the end of term, one of the teachers gave him the task of taking the money we had collected to the bank. He of course showed off to his classmates by exchanging some of the notes with his homemade ones…result: His home was seized and all hardware confiscated (his parents were so not happy…). He was lucky he could not get arrested because he was under the age of fourteen at that time…
Moral: Ghetto kids are harmless…they do have quite a bit of criminal energy, but they usually lack the brains to use it
